The One O'Clock Gun is fired every day (except Sunday) at precisely 13:00, allowing citizens and visitors to check their clocks and watches. The origin of the tradition lies in the days when sailing ships in the Firth of Forth were able to check and reset their chronometers in the days before acurate timepieces were available. The Iona Nunnery was an Augustinian convent located on the island of Iona, in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. It was established sometime after the foundation of the nearby Benedictine monastery in 1203. The ruins of the nunnery stand in a peaceful garden adjacent to Iona's main (and only) village, Baile Mor. Iona, Scotland. www.muttiah.com
